As the head football coach, Michael Locksley has control over his schedule, so some Thursdays this fall, his weekly radio show starts an hour earlier than usual. Locksley sits on a stage in Looney’s Pub discussing his team until around 6:50 p.m., and then he’s on his way. He hops onto a golf cart with his assistant, who weaves through Maryland’s campus on a one-mile trip that passes the football stadium en route to the soccer field.
