News of the hiring of Victor Lapena yesterday as the head coach of Canada’s senior women’s basketball team was a long time coming – the qualification tournament for this year’s World Cup is about a month away and that’ s not a lot of prep time for any coach let alone one brand new to the players, the coaches, the country.
