November’s Doc Roundtable will explore two different yet complementary films which showcase gender inequities in women’s sports – soccer/futbol – and across society.
Join us as we bring together two films, WARRIORS OF A BEAUTIFUL GAME and LFG, and explore how these breakthrough documentaries explore the global impact of sports as a ticket out of poverty and follow a group of women who decided to sue the US Soccer Federation for wage discrimination.
You can see the trailer for LFG here
Equal parts inspiring and enraging – the stories are compelling and a part of an important cultural movement.
Our evening will feature Producer Luis Castro and Director/Filmmaker Kely Nascimento of WARRIORS OF A BEAUTIFUL GAME and Abby Greensfelder, Founder/CEO of Everywoman Studios and Producer of LFG.

This Documentary Roundtable is a joint program of Women in Film & Video and Docs In Progress. Program alternate between Docs In Progress in Silver Spring and Interface Media in Washington, D.C. Roundtables at Interface feature guest experts on topics of interest to documentary filmmakers. All Documentary Roundtable meetings are open to the public. This is a great way to get to know others in the DC-area documentary filmmaking community, build your network and know-how, and find out about other offerings of these two organizations.
