Simona Halep, a two-time Grand Slam winner formerly ranked No. 1 in the world, was given a four-year ban for doping violations, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced Tuesday.
A 31-year-old native of Romania, Halep has been sidelined since October, when she was provisionally suspended after she failed a doping test during last year’s U.S. Open.
