When I was 5 years old, my mom signed me up for ballet. I was excited. I flew down the stairs in my leotard. And, my soccer cleats! My mother gave me a look of shock and explained that I couldn’t wear cleats to ballet. I protested that my brothers could wear cleats to all their activities. Ultimately, we didn’t go to ballet.
