March 1 – March 7, Highlights and Lowlights

? This week we offer our congratulations and our top highlight to Maia Chaka, who was hired as the first Black female game official in the NFL. Following Sarah Thomas’s turn as the first female to officiate a Super Bowl we look forward to seeing more females represented in the arena of football.

? This week we give a thumbs down and our lowlight of the week to Major League Baseball. As Barry Svrluga revealed in The Washington Post this week, the MLB has a long history of misogyny, even referring to women as “beef”. Mickey Callaway and Jared Porter are only the newest names on top of a very deep, and embarrassing, history.
