Kenny Brooks’s fight for women’s basketball is paying dividends

“I used to coach on the men’s side, and I switched over to the women’s side, and I’ve been fighting a champion for the cause for a long time for women to be able to get this opportunity,” said Virginia Tech head coach Kenny Brooks. “And tonight, it was like a dream come true.”

Women’s basketball doesn’t get much bigger than this. On a Thursday night in early November, Brooks’s basketball team, with the help of Caitlin Clark and Iowa, filled up an NBA arena for the Ally Tipoff.
