D.C. United hired Lucy Rushton as its general manager, multiple people familiar with the decision said Monday, making her MLS’s highest-ranking woman in charge of player personnel and one of the few in U.S. professional sports.
Rushton’s hiring comes five months after the Miami Marlins made Kim Ng the first female general manager of an MLB team. It also comes as NFL and NBA teams have promoted women to assistant coaching positions and other executive roles. Read More
